Middleboro vs. Canton

On December 29th, Middleboro boys basketball team hosted a game against Canton at 6:30 at night. The Middleborough Sachems basketball team lost against the non-conference game against Canton by a score of 84-44. The starting line up for Middleboro Sachems was Cody Soderlund (junior) as guard, Ryan Deutsch (senior) as guard, Matt Crowley (junior) as forward, Jason Bean (senior) as forward, and Matt Rossi (senior) as center.  Sachems trail 12 – 6 midway through the first quarter.  Great play action by Matt Crowley with 2 points into the hoop. After the first quarter,  the boys’ Sachems fall back to 14 – 9.  David Bisnaw (junior) for the Sachem’s team, held 8 points throughout his playing time on the court. Canton put together a 10 – 0 run and leads Middleboro 24 – 9 at the four minute mark of the second quarter. Canton High School player, Austin Maffie connecting from deep and tossing up some shots. In the second quarter, Canton controls the the quarter, leading 42 – 19 at the half. Matt Crowley with 6 points for Middleboro and Austin Maffie with 19 points for Canton High School. After half time, Canton leads Middleboro’s basketball team 59 – 32. Levi Michaelis (senior) as guard and point guard,  hold 6 points in this half. He had his drives to the hoop and had one of his best games out there. The final score between Middleboro and Canton was 84 – 44 with Canton with the victory. The Boys’ Sachems fall to 1-4 for their record of the year. This is a non league team, so it did not count in the long run, but was a great effort between both teams.  Many plays and defense was provided by Ryan Deutsch, Jack Andrade, Jason Bean.  Cody Soderlund ended the game with 2 steals and great feet work. Matt Crowley with 8 points,including two three pointers and Levi Michaelis with 7 points including one three pointer for the Sachem’s boys basketball team. Dan Bukunt (junior) played very well towards the end of the game with good defense and attacks towards the ball. Matt Rossi had himself 11 rebounds throughout the whole game and had great hustle to the hoop. The Middleboro fan session was peppy and wild during this game, even though it was a tough loss. Middleboro hopes to see the same amount of people in the stands to cheer them on for doing a job well done.  Middleboro Sachem’s next home game is against Randolph on January 13th. Hope to see you there and pack the stands to show off your spirit and pride to be a Sachem. The freshmen game is held at 3:30, followed by the Junior Varsity at 5:00, finished with the Varsity game at 6:30 PM. the cost to get in is only $5 for students and family. All are welcome and hope to attend. Good luck the boy’s basketball and hope they go far into the season.
